White Castle, East Lothian (NGR NT 6135 6860) is located immediately to the south of Garvald in the Lammermuir Hills. The site has impressive and commanding views across the Lothians and on to Fife. This panoramic view can be better captured from an aerial platform.
To enhance and cross reference a previously surveyed topographic plan of the site, carried out with traditional methods, (over 4 field seasons) the aerial survey took 25 minutes and produced results that not only matched previous data, but provided more information on the site..
